There is news of a potential new event at Scammonden Dam, near Huddersfield. Details are sparse at the moment, but it planned to make it an event for all disciplines (Luge/Buttboard/Gravity Bikes/Side-Car/Skaters/Soapbox/etc). Border Bogies 2012 will take place on Saturday 26th May, and entries are open now. Juniors and Senior races. Classes for Soapbox Cartie, Gravity Sidecar, Gravity Bike and Pedal Bike.

June 9th and 10th
The best weekend of the year! The Catterline Cartie Challenge is an annual competition for home made "gravity powered" soapbox carties which is held as part of Catterline Gala Weekend. It was first held in 2005, and is one of the highlights of the village year. It also forms part of the SCA Championship series.
Entries for existing teams will be available from 1st January 2012, with entries from new teams being accepted from early February 2012.

The 2012 Richards Castle Soap Box Derby will be held on Sunday July 8th on Hanway Common, near Ludlow in Shropshire.
The course is 550m in length, with a vertical drop of 50m and gives speeds up to 45mph. Full details at http://www.richardscastlesoapbox.co.uk/

July 13th and 14th
Returning to the mountain for the 4th year - the most prestigious sopbox race in the UK, with the best teams from across the country. Intense head to head racing in groups of 4 along the 2 mile course with speeds well in excess of 60mph - there is simply nothing like this anywhere else.

Dalby Forest Soapbox Derby, Yorkshire
A brilliant weekend’s sport in the wonderful Dalby Forest. Andy and Michelle will once again host the friendly but competitive and fast race in the woods.
Entries will be limited to 25 Soapbox/Sidecar Teams and a maximum of 12 G-Bikes on a strictly first come, first served basis.

Belchford Downhill Challenge. Back for it’s 11th year. Come along to the biggest and best (allegedly) soapbox race of the season.
