Hello and welcome to Lincolnshire Rural Challenge our newly registered charity (charity number 1183281). We are a group of 7 trustees who have come together due to our desire to support an often forgotten and isolated group of young people in our rural community. Our hopes for Lincolnshire Rural Challenge are that we will be able to make at least a small positive difference in the lives of the people we work alongside.
We will be working with
- Young people ages 18 to 30
- Those from rural areas of the Lincolnshire Wolds and East Lindsey
- Those who are not in employment, education or training
- Those who are in need of support and have a desire to make changes for the better in their lives.
Our grant funding will favour initiatives which will help young people who fall into the above categories.
What we can offer
- Funding for a training course
- Transport costs to workshops/interviews
- Help towards driving theory tests
- Work experience
- Programmes and workshops in practical skills
- Mental health and well-being support
All with the aim of leading to improved chances of employment and further learning and training. We hope to be flexible with what we can offer and will be open to the needs of each individual that approaches us for support.
Some of our current projects (all have been put on hold due to the pandemic)
- We had planned to offer a week long programme in the spring of this year working in conjunction with The Prince’s Trust. The young people attending will be given an insight into day to day workings of farming and it’s future on a large working farm, giving them the opportunity to identify areas in which they could perhaps pursue a career.
- We are currently working to secure grant funding to enable us to offer mental health support programmes. Recent research is showing that 1 in 6 young people will suffer with anxiety or depression in their lives, there is a particular problem with feelings of isolation in rural areas. We hope to offer workshops related to well-being as well as individual counselling sessions facilitated by accredited and registered therapists.
Fund Raising past and future
The Lincolnshire Rural Challenge, has been holding a now well regarded and popular event over previous years, The Lincs Box Event. This has been our main source of income so far. A 10k and 5k Cross Country Run/walk and a 50k Mountain Bike Trail. This years Box Event will be offering even more exciting trails and experiences so watch this space!
This is all new and just the beginning for us, we’ve been holding the BOx Event for four years now with this particular vision in mind. Now as a registered charity we plan to establish further funding streams through grant funding and donations. There will be a donation page in the coming weeks on this site.
We are always very happy to talk to anyone who may have an interest in supporting our charity or who may wish to offer sponsorship for any of our fund raising events/activities.
